1 Day. It took me all of 1 day to read this book. I
ate it up and left no crumbs.
In all honesty, I wasn’t really looking forward to
this couple as much as I were the previous ones but just like Josh and Jules
swept me away unexpectedly, so did Sloane Kensington and Xavier Castillo – my little
flirt.
From the previous King of Sins instalment, we know
that Xavier has always been a difficult client for Sloane. Sloane is a
determined ice-queen publicist that houses the most A list celebs from
Ayana the model, to Asher Donavan the footballer player to of course the most
charming Xavier Castillo. Now why would a billionaire be difficult to manage?
Duh. Have you met the other characters? Well then. Xavier doesn’t want to take
over his fathers business and knowing his son the best, Alberto knew someone had
to keep him in check and that someone was the publicist herself. 3 years.
Something has been bubbling for 3 rom-com years but it only took a trip to Spain,
Albertos’ death and a kiss (thank the Lord) to put their ass in gear. Both literary
and figuratively.
If Xavier had issues with his father, then Sloane was
also estranged from the Kensington’s 5 years prior. It was so lovely to see the
warm side of the PR queen with Penelope whilst also seeing how both MCs bonded
of their death of their mothers. I may or may not have had cried a little – a lot
– when Xavier mentioned how both him and his father held him responsible for
the death of his mother. Alberto was evil even on his deathbed.
The vacation is Spain was where the key bonding moment started. Hello anyone remember those damn dance lessons? Why was my pulse skipping along for? I could imagine the scene where Sloane let loose so vividly in my head because since Ana dropped that teaser in her newsletter, I had been imagining all the ways about how it came to be. However, Bogota was where the love started to blossom. I admired how gradual everything was. It kind of reminded me of Bridget and Rhys when Bridget’s grandfather had a health scare. There was so many small moments like sharing the empanada’s to talking about Hershey that made this story so Xavier. He is such a golden retriever just like Callahan Kane.
I could see from the start how Xavier was going to run
his own bar with the letter from his mother putting everything into perspective
so imagine how I was gasping when the terms of gaining the inheritance came to
be. And then the list. That list introduced me to all my loves.
Perry Wilson is the bane of every billionaire’s life so
it’s a good thing he got booted. Ah. My sweet Kai. Who doesn’t love Kai? That
guy is polite, well-mannered and a billionaire of course.
Okay guest appearance of life including both old lovers
and new arrivals. Page one we got Stella Alonso the designer of Sloane’s dress.
At this point we have to see Christian Harper’s name or clearly the editorial assistant
aren’t doing their jobs correctly. Alex Volkov? Green eye it’s been a while.
Jules from Silver and Klein doing the lawyer things she does with a couple of
new name drops to but honestly, I was already drooling over whatever the hell
was going on between Vuk (The Serb) and Ayana. I have not been so excited for a
2025 release. Was dying for King of Sloth but King of Envy? Inject me with the strongest
sedative and make sure it wakes me up on March 25th. To get an ARC
for that release? I’ve died and gone straight to the highest rank in heaven. I
never gave much thought to Vuk since reading about him in King of Pride but now I want to know everything about him. The
Serb has something in the past with Ayana? Sign me up.
Where the hell is the bonus scene? Oh yeah it came a
couple days late but Coco? Coco with Feisty the fish? It can’t get any more
golden retriever that Xavier Castillo. I died so hard.
I’m getting serious about my e-books. I pre-ordered
both the paperback and the e-book. The first time around I always read the
paper pages then when re-visiting it I don’t limit myself too where, when or
who I’m with.
Did it beat King of Wrath? Nothing can beat Dante MF
Russo. I am so attached to that book that I can’t even write the review for it.
Scan my blog – every Ana Huang review except from that one. You know you
just don’t talk about your most prized possessions all willy nilly. Although, I
do have a suspicious feeling that Vuk is going to give some tough competition.
I’m currently re-reading Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher – Declan is
giving such Dante vibes. I read anything that gives Dante vibes. I’m so
attached I can’t even write the damn nickname from King of Wrath. Okay that’s
enough. No more about him.
I did not forget about the spicy scenes; I merely
cannot get myself to re-visit them because ahem……I will never go to a bathroom
again in my life without thinking about what Ms. Sloane Kensington did to Mr.
Castillo. That is something I would have pinned spontaneous Isabella Valencia
(my queen) for not put together, tight bun and even tighter lipped Kensington.
Alas. Love does all.
The break-up act I hated but it wasn’t that bad to be
fair. I got through it.
5/5 star read. No complain at all. However, I wish I
saw more of the King of Sins couples in it just because we got a whole host of
them in the 2nd and 3rd book so I wanted to see them more
here to but I believe the old cameos made up for it so win-win after all.
This was the most -anticipated release of this year
for me (and others) so my year is done. Still waiting for some pre-releases to
drop alongside The Striker by Ana herself dying for Vuk and Ayana though.
If you haven’t already read these addictive paper
pages get your life together. If you have, welcome home lovers.
Until my next read, job hunting is alive, New York is
waiting even though life is still a bit…not billionaire.
Mwah.
Vivian.
Don’t forget to keep reading, because as long as you
do, it’s making a struggling authors day that much better. Reach for the starts
of success.
