Welcome to
Paper Pages and on my journey to go from Law Graduate to Literary Agent. What
made me decided to do that? A book – obviously. It’s not easy to become one
guys mainly because a. it’s very hard but not impossible and b. because
sometimes self-doubt kicks in. Like what makes me think I’m good enough to help
struggling authors published their book? However, I’m not going to live with
what ifs so it’s time to roll up my sleeved and start talking. My long-term
goal is to re-locate to New York – frankly I feel as if I’ve outgrown England
and the limited opportunities’ it has.
Now my law degree didn’t completely go to waste. One thing that really came into handy: Studying international law rights, proof-reading law journals and of course – writing. Some boring but all very necessary for becoming a literary agent. It’s on days like this I thank my lucky stars that I can do these tasks with ease.
So, what made me fall in love with a bunch of paper that has words written all over them ranging from short and snappy to long and poetic? Well, everyone says the same cliché answer when asked; ‘it’s to escape from reality’ but for me It’s more about getting hope. There are a lot of characters out there that I can relate to and I’m sure you can to so I guess for me it’s about finding solace in the unknown. Now, if you asked me what made me want to become a Literary Agent it would be mainly because I love PR between books, their authors and publishing houses but also because the first time I read a badly written fiction rom-com, I took out time to sticky note everything that was wrong alongside how it could be improved to become a good novel to a great one. So, there it is! A bad book made me want to get into the profession.
At this page you can find the most hyped-up book reviews from the steady slow-burn vanillas to the captivating dark romances. My style is very ‘talkative’ whilst still being informative and I’m currently trying to land an Editorial Role at my favourite publishers; Simon & Schuster, Harper Fiction and Little Brown Group. DO NOT except be to recite the blurb of a book – hate those kind of reviews, not here for it.
Let’s read some Paper Pages together and make my dreams come true.
P.S. I do not read non-fiction and if I did it’s probably out of compulsion rather than entertainment. As a book devotee, I am a very inquisitive reader unless it comes to facts. That is when I – respectfully – sign out.
