Apprehensive.
That’s the word we’re settling with. I felt so very apprehensive going into book #2
because Lina wasn’t speaking volumes to me. But then I read it and I should
have known to never doubt Lucy Score again in my life.
So, we saw speckles of Lina towards the end of Things We Never Got Over. She may or may not have kissed Knox bang on the lips during the break-up act between Knox and his Daisy. Lina also made an entrance when Naomi was saved from the abduction by following Nash’s car with Sloane. Let’s just say Lucian Rollins was not a happy, rich man in that moment.
Angelina
(Linda) Solavita works in insurance. That’s what she tells everyone but she
actually finds clients their highly insured items. IF you read the first instalment,
you’ll know who Duncan Hugo is and why everyone wants to find him. He wrote a
damn list with high executive’s names on them – Nash included hence why he was
shot – in which coincidently a car was stolen that belonged to Lina’s client.
So now she’s back in her ex’s town to finish the job. Who’s ex-you ask. Knox’s.
Nash Morgan is the charming, well-behaved young brother and Chief of police with a great bum. I’m a sucker for law enforcement. After getting shot, Nash has started to struggle with his mental health. What used to be a novelty to him has now become the reality of depression, anxiety and memory-loss from what happened. For the life of him, he can’t remember what happened to him than the fact that half of him died in that ditch. So even if it’s adrenaline, anger or lust, Nash finds a magnetic pull to Lina who’s made him feel so long after not feeling.
Back to
Lina and the history with Knox. Lina was the college girlfriend of Knox
Knockamount Morgan but they broke up keeping a friendship alive because someone
was very persuasive; hint, hint Lina. Lina is back in town and initially stayed
in the no stars motel until Knox made her move to the 1 of 3 apartments, he
owned that resided above Whiskey Clippers. Mrs. Tweedy lived in one, Nash in
the other with Lina being the new and final neighbour. Oooooh how I love this
trope.
IT was
heart-breaking to learn Lina’s story connected to the heart monitor watch she
wore alongside how Nash wasn’t the same Nash Morgan we saw in the first half of
Knox’s love story anymore. The flirty, well-manned, aw-shucks guy was half gone
the day he was shot. Seeing Lina being the one to be his support system through
that was very comforting. The whole journey Lina was on to not only do what her
job instructed her to do but also to help catch the who may well try to hurt
Nash again was so thrilling. The OCD in me was so relived to see another piece
of the puzzle fit into its place.
Tina. Oh my
god. Tina has a thing for Nash. Or moreso his butt. I can definitely see
the personality of Tina in Waylay. Speaking of that little tech genius. She
really did save Lina’s ass form getting hurled by that idiot aka Duncan Hugo. Score
really made sure to give her a strong personality and I admire Waylay for the 12-year-old
kid I couldn’t be but wish I was. Seeing how much more opened she had become
with Knox and Naomi alongside Nash and the rest of Knockamount had my eyes
watering.
The moments
that captured my heart. When they rescued the dog Piper and were found in a
compromising position by Stef. I love Stef. The dynamic between both of them
having their own issues both mentally that also veered into the trust issues
they both have. I appreciated the lack of the whole 3rd party break
up act. Don’t question the spice. Ever.
One thing
that I noticed that irked me was how whoever edited the damn books couldn’t decide
on what height Mr. Nashville Morgan was. So, he as a 6ft3 pain in the ass with 2
bullet hole – as described my Knox – in book #1 but was a 6ft1 problem for Lina
in the second? No. It’s almost as bad as when Ana Huang kept changing how long Dominic
and Alessandra knew each other for in The King of Greed. Give me anxiety and messes
with the math skills I don’t have.
We saw more
of the chemistry between Mr. Rollins and the Pixi librarian setting the perfect
tone for the final book. I was on the edge of my seat reading more about my
first fave couple. Finally, seeing the wedding come into full force between Knox
and Naomi was just the cherry on top. I may or may not have cried. I’ll let you
smart people figure it out.
I can’t forget
about Nolan. He was the best part of the whole back. Everyone needs a Nolan.
Even Lucian despite him defying all odds.
At this
point into the series, I was also very sad because I had one book left which it’s
a sour feeling. Especially when the series is as good as this one.
Read it.
These are the paper pages that make me love reading, reviewing and raving.
Book
reading update. I’m in a bit of a rut. There are so many releases coming up in
April which I’m patiently just waiting for. I’m currently re-reading The
Darkest Temptation by Danielle Lori. Need a new read but struggling. IF
anyone has any recommendations, give me a shout.
Until the
third review my angels.
Don’t
forget to read.
Mwah.
Vivian.
