Including those ones from my most loved authors plus some
authors I just won’t read from again.
Let’s call this post Ex’s and Oh’s part 2.
The Long Game by Elena Armas. No. Nope. Don’t like the cover, don’t
like the blurb and sure as hell don’t like soccer. I have read and will
continue to read sport romances but soccer? Yeah no. [Side note: this does not
and will not ever apply to Striker by Ana Huang. Nothing applies to Ana
Huang books. Ever.] Hockey. Rugby. Basketball even I’m fine with. I’ve seen the
reviews – through research here and I trust my gut. I know before
giving it a chance that it won’t be make it to my top 20 let alone top anything
else. I’ve read the blurb it just doesn’t sell to me. In all fairness,
I’m still in New York, Manhattan with Aaron, Lina, Lucas and Roslyn so. Just
don’t even want to speak about or have anything to do with Adalyn and Cameron.
Also, the cover – immediately no. Sorry Elena – not this time. Still love you
babe. I am going to pre-order her newest release The Fiancé Dilemma. Let’s
hope it’s not a amped up version of my faves.
Fourth Wing. Not into that kind of stuff.
Ali Hazlewood. Not a stem romance kind of girl. I did
buy The Love Hypothesis & Love On The Brain (silly mistake) but couldn’t
get past page 10 in The Love Hypothesis so I just left it and never
touched it again. Good news? I gave it to my friend who really was itching to
buy it so since I had it, I saved her money and my bookshelf gained another empty
space. Also, she loved the read and everything Ali Hazelwood after so I guess
the real winner is the author herself. I’ve never liked to mix academia with fiction,
least of all science. Gives me high school days flashbacks. Yeah. Do not need
those.
Jagger Cole. Why did you let me down? What did I ever
do to you? I was in the middle of writing a review for it but it was just so
draining. I’m not spending time talking more about a book that took me so
hard to finish. There’s so much yet so little to say about it. I appreciate a
mafia romance just as much as the next girl. However, what I didn’t appreciate
was the windwhirl of relatives, characters and all of this mafia
business that a) didn’t make sense and b) wasn’t why I picked this romance for.
It was for the line that TikTok perfectly advertised for people like myself. Evidently,
the author knows a lot about the Bratva and had a deep passion for writing
about it. Unfortunately, I was more interested in Eilish and Gavan (not going
to lie, took me a minute to remember his name) rather than the business Gavan
was always on about. I did start in the middle of the series though. Hold up. Didn’t
I say I wasn’t going to review this book? Safe to say I won’t be reading
the others.
Colleen Hoover. Let me make it make sense. After I
read It Ends with Us & It Starts with Us, nothing really
spoke to me after that. I have picked up Heart Bones which is seemingly starting
out to be another heart wrenching read but not all of her stories are for me. I
can’t say she’s up there with Ana Huang or Tessa Bailey for me so I won’t be
reading anything from Colleen in the future unless that is she releases
something that I find aligns with my palette. What I’m trying to say is that it’s
not just the fact that everything feels relatively similar to me with her
writing but also, it’s not an author I’m actively waiting for new releases from.
With that said, on the edge of my seat for the movie to come to the big
screens. Read my posts on it, you’ll be side-eyeing me so hard.
Sadie Kincaid. I mentioned in my most recent post that
I’m reading about the infamous Dante Moretti. Spoiler, Dante Russo is still the
most loved Dante ever. I’m failing to understand the hype or finish the book for
that matter. Where’s the progression? It’s like one second, they can’t stand
each other then the next they’re at it like dogs. It’s lowkey giving 365-day
vibes. That movie wasn’t even a movie it was a puberty lesson for teenagers.
Show that in schools and you won’t have to do much talking. It’s safe to say
there is no way in bookish hell anyone could tie me down and make me look at
let alone read Joey or Lorenzo. Big fat flying nope with a
popping p.
This is just
hitting the surface; March has landed and April will be here before I know it.
Don’t get me started on all the new releases I’m counting days for. I’m talking
red marker, calendar, alarm – the whole lot. Maybe I’ll write about it before
they release?
Job hunting sucks. So much rejection but I have to persevere
because no one will do it for me.
Keep me In your prayers and help this blog reach
levels I didn’t know it could. New York is waiting for me and buddy I’m dying
to get to you too.
Sigh.
Don’t forget the paper pages. My life is on it.
Mwah.
Don’t forget to keep reading, because as long as you
do, it’s making a struggling authors day that much better. Reach for the starts
of success.
