The Twisted Series - Ana Huang

Once upon a time Christian Harper popped up on my TikTok and that was all I needed to spiral my way down and into the ‘Twisted Series’ by Ana Huang. So, what can you expect from the series, who’s my favourite couples, what’s my favourite book and who carried it all? Well let’s find out. From Twisted Love to Twisted Lies, here’s what I really think about this Billionaire phenomenon.

The short answer? I loved every page, chapter and second of reading these paper pages. Everything. I totally get the hype. From the plot to the characters, this was one of the best interconnected series I have come across in a very long time. A lot of people write them with only a few doing it right. I mean some of these books were long and I ached for them to be longer. If that doesn’t speak volumes, I don’t know what else will.

This series is revolved around 4 best college friends (Ava Chen, Bridget Von Ascheberg, Jules Ambrose & Stella Alonso) and their story from experiencing the real world whilst also falling in love with people they never would be caught dead with. Whilst the tropes are ones, we have seen many times in the past, it has never been done like Ana Huang did. It was such a ride that when it came to an end, I carried an air of melancholy with me for days. Although, Ms. Ana Huang made sure to release a lot of bonus scenes to occupy our pathetic little romantic hearts so she gets a plus point. At times, I just wished that there were two more friends but saying goodbye to the Twisted Series meant making more shelf room for the King of Sins series. It’s safe to say that you can never make me choose which I love more. The answer is both.

My blog doesn’t recite the blurb words for word. If you’re here, it’s most likely because you want to know what’s worth your hard-earned money. Well, I’m happy to report back that anything Ana Huang is worth it.

So, which one will I force my daughter to read so we both dote over him? Mr. Unicorn takes the lead. I got lost in Twisted Lies - I read it in one sitting and it was the best written book from the series. In my opinion, the writing to better as the books got along, the style of writing by Ana has excelled even in the King of Sins series. Which means two things; Either experience made Ana into a literature queen or her editors are doing well hell of job. Let’s just add another reason in there as the cherry on time; I could be biased. Honestly, she has come such a long way. Second best would definitely be Twisted Games. I mean how could it not; ‘Princess’, ‘Crawl to me’. Please I died before reading THOSE commands. However, with that said the bromance between Alex and Josh takes first place alongside the friendship between Ava and Jules. It’s just so submerged within one another that the epilogue really hits home when you’ve been on a journey.

Writing a plot in an interconnected series and making sure to carry it throughout is not an easy task. I’ve seen it go wrong many times with one hit wonders combined with disappointing duos. Every book devotee gives one answer when asked books take up so much shelf space; it’s to escape reality they say. Sorry to break it to you, but you can’t really do that if you’re forcing yourself to finish a book. Good thing I didn’t have to with this one otherwise Ana’s literary agent would have been in for of a treat. Other than this series, Lauren Asher does it best. The spotlight of the plot in all of this? Magda. Yes, that damn painting that wasn’t so damn when you actually read Twisted Lies and find out the reason why it was such a wanted piece. Other than Magda, let’s give credit where it’s due. If Christian Harper is searched within every King of Sins book then Mr. Alex Volkov carried the whole of the Twisted Series. He ATE and left no crumbs.

On a more personal level, I resonated a bit to every female MC throughout the series. I related to Ava when being a strong warrior but being seen as a timid, scared flower. Jules when acting strong but having a thousand crippling emotions that plague us day and night. Stella when she does the career she wants despite the lack of family support. Finally, feeling the same suffocation Bridget feels from the family system she’s always in were expectations rule over emotions. When they found their happily ever endings both career-wise and in their love lives, it even gave me hope.

Now, Let’s rate them.

Twisted Love; Brothers best friend trope – 4/5 Stars

Twisted Games; Princess & Bodyguard -5/5 Stars

Twisted Hate; best friend’s brother – 4/5 Stars

Twisted Lies; fake dating – 5/5 Stars

Ana Huang wrote in her signature style making sure she added intelligence, wit and a LOT of spice all whilst guaranteeing a happy – somewhat realistic – ending. Definitely pick up these from your local Waterstones or The Works – I’m hearing they’re giving a run for my Waterstones Plus Card. Until next time, I’m off to read some more paper pages. Soon enough I’ll be a literary agent ready to help establish new freelance authors.

Keep an eye out for the ‘King of Sin’ series reviews from Paper Pages but in the meantime, don’t forget to keep reading some too.

Don’t forget to keep reading, because as long as you do, it’s making a struggling authors day that much better. Reach for the starts of success.
