(5/5 Stars)
An easy 5
star read with a lot of spice.
This
bedside read made all my wattpad dreams come true back in 2022. My first hockey
romance and definitely not my last.
This wasn't
a planned purchase, although booktok had made its dent in my mind to keep a
look out for it. One impromptu session later to a book shop - because who
doesn't - it went from THE shelf to MY shelf. I really enjoyed the characters
and the complexity of it all. One character really irked me - if you've read
it, you know who!
Nate
Hawkins is your perfect book boyfriend, and Anastasia Allen is a strong,
determined girl ready to do anything to make her dreams come true. I'm glad
they evolved together but also as individuals apart. It's true to the college
experience it's based around, with A LOT of spicy scenes. Hannah Grace does not
disappoint. With it being set in Maple Hills, it really does create the best
scenery in mind.
It picked
up on some sensitive topics so be sure to check out any trigger warning should
this be a book burning a hole in your bookshelf. Toxic relationships and eating
disorders being a few of them; it was explained, explored and solved so
beautifully by Hannah Grace through the characters she created. It boosted my
mood and I hope it boosted those suffering with similar issues to.
I've seen
some mixed opinions on 2 things: 1. It could have been a couple hundred pages
shorter and 2. Some chapters seemed a bit rushed, aka the fillers of the story.
I agree with it being a bit shorter, but at the same time, there's nothing I'd
want to be taken out of it. As for number 2, I really liked the fillers and
break it caused in the storyline - it added to the grain of the context.
All in all,
I definitely give this 5 stars. I was on the edge of my seat for Russ, aka
Muffin's book, to release next. Wildfire is, for sure, one of the most
anticipated releases to come this 2023 and boy did it hit the spot. Don't forget to check out the review!
I believe this was the first book published by Hannah Grace, and honestly, it was such a hit, and the success she's had from it is amazing. Everyone wants it to either be a series or a movie, but some books are just phenomenal at being books. I'm not saying I wouldn't watch it - trust me It will be marked in my diary and I'll watch it front and centre. Sometimes imagination in the mind is the best thing about reading books!
Have you
read Icebreaker? What were your thoughts? If it was to come on the big screen,
who would be your Nate and Stassie?
Vivian.
Don’t forget to
keep reading, because as long as you do, it’s making a struggling authors day
that much better. Reach for the starts of success.
